    If you have ever wondered whether your daughter listens to you take a moment to read Arabella Weir’s piece in last Saturday’s Telegraph.

    Despite being a highly successful comic actress with a luscious figure and an astute take on life, Arabella grew up knowing that her glamorous mother was disappointed by her “chunky” if longed- for daughter. Her mother’s favourite put-down was “watching you eat is like having knives stuck into my eyes”. This led to years of low esteem and desperate attempts to transform herself. Finally Arabella has come terms with her body but how many girls like her are currently full of self-loathing and despair because their mothers are not providing the unconditional love that they long for?
