Educating your daughter

Education starts in the home, within the family. It continues as she joins a playgroup, school, college and perhaps university. Decisions, decisions...!!!

11 - 16

As she goes through puberty your daughter will present you with some “interesting” dilemmas: how much independence and freedom should you give her? Why does she act like a child one minute and an adult the next? Which GCSEs should she choose? At times she may seem to reject your opinions and values as she measures them against her friends’. Academic pressures will build as she works towards taking public exams and social pressures will dominate her thinking and affect her behaviour. By helping her to appreciate that success comes in many forms, that how you look is only a small part of who you are, by gradually extending the boundaries you established when she was younger and above all by praising, encouraging and appreciating her you will enable her to become her own, special self.
