Educating your daughter

Education starts in the home, within the family. It continues as she joins a playgroup, school, college and perhaps university. Decisions, decisions...!!!

7-11

Your daughter should be full of excitement and delight as she continues to learn and develop but she may also have moments of worry – how can she remember her times tables? Why won’t her best friend play with her today? Has she got everything she needs for school today? Why are boys so annoying? She will also continue to ask endless questions, some of which you may not know the answer to. Finding out the answer together can be rewarding for both of you, after all at some point she will realise that even her perfect parents do not know everything! You will still be the centre of her universe so enjoy it – it may not last throughout her teenage years. During this stage you will be laying the foundations of a strong relationship in which two-way open communication ensures that she trusts and respects you. Establishing firm boundaries of acceptable behaviour, good manners and kindness to others will give her a frame of reference and moral standards that she will need forever.
