Experience: Gill has been Headmistress of Bolton School Girls’ Division since 2005. She started her career teaching in comprehensives in Shropshire and Chester before becoming senior teacher in charge of staff appraisal at Rhyl High School. She became Deputy Head of Belvedere GDST, Liverpool, in 1996, then Head in 1997.

Summary

Gill has an easy, approachable yet direct and confident manner. Her career in boys’, girls’ and mixed schools has brought her an unusually wide experience of the young, and a conviction that girls and boys need different teaching styles to bring the best out in them.

Gill is married with grown-up children. She is a keen skier, enjoys walking and fishing with her family, and cooking.
