Qualifications: BA (Hons) History, Southampton, PGCE Birmingham

Experience: Currently headmistress of Leicester High School (since 2003). Previously Deputy Head at The Kingsley School, Leamington Spa, Head of History at Loughborough High School. I started my teaching career at Nottingham High School for Girls GDST. I still love my subject and continue to teach whenever possible. I am an ISI inspector, a member of the GSA Professional Development Committee, a governor at another GSA school and a member of Leicester University Court.

Summary

I have spent my whole teaching career in girls’ independent day schools and am passionate about single-sex education. In this environment, girls can learn to be risk takers, safe in the knowledge that they will be supported as well as challenged, able to acquire the myriad of skills they will need in the world beyond the school gate. The girls never cease to amaze and impress me with their drive, their dedication and their commitment to excellence.
