So what do you really know about girls’ schools?

Q. Your name?

Anna Vercoe

Q. Your school?

Parsons Mead School

Q. Your current occupation?

Sponsorship and Brand Solutions Group Head (advertising) for IPC

Q. Your favourite subject at school?

History

Q. Your best and worst memory of your school days?

Worst memory was anything that involved hockey or lacrosse!

Best memory was running into the Junior boarder’s Sitting Room each evening after supper to watch Neighbours with all the other boarders!

Q. What or who inspired you to follow your career?

I was inspired to get into media by getting involved with Student Radio at Exeter University.

Q. What do you feel you gained by attending a girls’ only school?

I feel that there was much less pressure and competition – we were also able to concentrate in an age where hormones were ever present. Overall, it’s a much nicer atmosphere and one where the teachers were able to focus on you better as an individual and tailor your education to you.

Q. Any advice for girls planning their university and/or career choices?

Visit the universities as you’ll get a real feel for how well you’d fit in by visiting the site / campus. There will usually be one that stands-out as the place for you.
