Bury Grammar School Girls

Bury Grammar School Girls, founded in 1884, maintains high academic standards and traditional grammar school values whilst encouraging each girl to fulfil her potential. We are a happy family of schools with strong pastoral care as our top priority. Students achieve at a very high level in a wide range of subjects whilst at the same time benefiting from an extensive selection of extra curricular activities. We are at the beginning of a major building project which will lead to new and refurbished accommodation and the creation of a dedicated sixth form pre-university centre. This will contain a multi-purpose Lecture Theatre and Drama Studio, seminar rooms and private study areas which will provide students with facilities for independent learning.

We work closely with Bury Grammar School Boys for dramatic and musical productions, and other extra-curricular activities. In the Sixth Form all or virtually all students proceed to degree courses at prestigious universities, including Oxford and Cambridge. The School achieves high pass rates in public examinations.

The Junior School has its own purpose-built premises which provides a comfortable environment for girls to learn. The combination of a dedicated staff and excellent facilities allows girls to maintain a high academic standard enriched by extra-curricular activities.

In the purpose-built Pre-School and Kindergarten, children progress rapidly in all six areas of learning in lively and stimulating surroundings. They have use of the Senior School pool, have specialist PE instruction, their own dedicated gymnasium and tuition in music in a specially designed music room.
