City of London School for Girls is an academically selective, non-denominational, independent day school for 700 girls from 7 – 18 years old. The School was established by the Corporation of the City of London in 1894 and continues to support the City’s themes: is competitive and promotes opportunities, supports our communities, protects and enhances our environment, is vibrant and culturally rich, is safer and stronger.
We aim for excellence in all we do in the education and development of young women at the heart of the City of London. This includes fostering a love of learning and debate through a broad and balanced curriculum and co-curriculum. We have a strong, supportive Pastoral Structure to help the girls achieve their best in all they do and we encourage positive attitudes to self, health, social, moral and spiritual issues.
We are particularly well recognised for:
- Our academic results (97.5% A & B grades at A Level in 2010) and University entrance (over 25% Oxford / Cambridge / medicine / law acceptances every year).
- Our unique location in the Barbican Centre – right in the heart of one of the world’s most vibrant and cosmopolitan cities – and all that this provides in supporting the girls’ broader education.
- The diversity of our pupils – we welcome students from all faiths, cultures and from all over inner and outer London. We also have a generous bursary programme, with 23% of our pupils qualifying for some degree of financial support.
- Our facilities (studio theatre, swimming pool, all-weather pitch, gym, climbing wall and fitness centre) and the range of extra-curricular activities on offer.
