Cranford House School
Age range 3–16
School head Mrs Claire Hamilton
Cranford House School has an excellent reputation for providing its 390 pupils with a balanced, all-round education which motivates them to achieve their full potential, within a warmly nurturing framework. Set in over 14 acres of rural South Oxfordshire, our small class sizes, close community and committed staff ensure each child is individually supported to enable development needs to be met and unique talents to be enhanced and celebrated. Whilst academically non-selective, achievements are high, as the school consistently appears in the top 10 Oxfordshire schools GCSE leagues.
Our purpose-built Early Years unit was awarded “Outstanding” at our last Ofsted inspection (June 2009) and the Junior School builds on this to develop three interlinking strengths of happiness, self-confidence and motivation in all its pupils. Our extensive range of extra-curricular activities is open to all from the earliest age, and pupils develop the self-belief and resilience to pursue new goals and challenges at every level.
The Senior School’s strong tradition of academic and sporting achievement is pursued within a well-established system of pastoral care. Our flourishing music, art and drama departments have local and national recognition. A new sports hall in 2013 and a state of the art performance space planned to follow, will ensure creative and sporting successes continue.
Many of our pupils move on from Cranford House with scholarships for prestigious sixth form establishments. They leave as well-balanced individuals, able to seize life’s opportunities whilst recognising the importance of mutual support and respect. A Cranford House education prepares you for life, not just exams.
