King Edward VI High School for Girls
Type Day
Age range 11–18
School head Miss Sarah Evans
KEHS is the premier girls’ day school in the Midlands. The life of the school both shapes the dreams and aspirations of each girl and nurtures those ambitions.
KEHS is academically selective, consistently achieves among the best external examination results in the country, and girls move to first class universities and fulfilling careers. The school achieves this not through an ethos of traditional, aggressive competition but by providing an environment where the life of the intellect is highly valued and everybody’s achievement is important.
The quality and range of extra curricular activities at KEHS is outstanding. In the performing arts and sport some girls achieve near professional standards and the vast majority are involved, having a great deal of fun, in some way or another. Music and drama activities are undertaken with King Edwards’ School, the brother school on the same site.
Each girl at KEHS is valued for who she is and not what she can achieve. The pastoral structure and atmosphere of community support ensures that the needs of every girl can be met, whether those are academic or personal – to be there through the sometimes stormy passage to adulthood.
Girls at KEHS come from a wide variety of backgrounds, many supported by the generous King Edward Bursary scheme. All the girls know they are privileged to be receiving the best education this country offers and they are encouraged to use their opportunity and achievement to serve others in whatever ways they can.
The school holds regular open occasions. Please visit www.kehs.co.uk for more details
