Leaden Hall School

Leaden Hall is an independent preparatory day and boarding school for girls aged 3-11, located in the historic surroundings of the Close of Salisbury Cathedral. The girls are aware of the centuries of tradition forming the backdrop to their education, giving them not only a sense of the past but also a vision for their future. Every member of staff is committed to the growth of each child as an individual, helping her to explore and develop her strengths through the wide range of core and extra-curricular subjects, clubs and initiatives taught by dedicated, inspirational teachers.

The Independent Schools Inspectorate described Leaden Hall as a “magical” school and judged its Early Years as “outstanding” in all four categories. They also rated as “excellent” the teaching, leadership, pastoral care, personal and social development, boarding and relationships with parents. Further excellence in our academic results at Common Entrance and 11+ ensure our girls achieve entry to top-ranking senior schools and the local grammar school. Every year scholarships are awarded for academic, musical and sporting ability.

For the third time, we have received the International School Award in recognition of our learning activities and links with schools throughout the world and many of our Year 6 girls have enduring friendships with our annual intake of Spanish pupils. Enthusiastic sports staff and talented music teachers develop latent abilities in each child, including harp lessons taught by Royal Harpist Claire Jones.
