School head Dr Paul Silverwood
Come and visit Queen Margaret’s and find out about the exciting and challenging education we offer your daughter.
Excellent teaching, superb facilities and varied opportunities for learning are the hallmarks of a QM education. At the end of their time in school our sixth formers are confident and articulate young women, who have made lifelong friendships and are ready to take their learning to the next level and their place in the modern world.
The school enjoys a stunning parkland setting just south of York. Around 85% of girls are boarders and we also welcome day girls from York and the surrounding area. The quality of pastoral care and strong sense of community ensure that all girls settle in quickly and join in every aspect of school life with enthusiasm and purpose.
At Queen Margaret’s we encourage girls to aim high and then to exceed their expectations, offering a breadth and depth in education with a focus on independent learning. Academic standards are high and examination results are consistently excellent. 2012 saw a 100% pass rate at A Level with 80% of all grades awarded between A* and B.
At the heart of a QM education is a love of learning, which is supported by a healthy body and healthy mind. QM’s wealth of enrichment activities and state of the art facilities allow girls to discover their talents in Sport, Music, Dance and Drama. We celebrate and recognise excellence both inside and outside the classroom and as such offer a range of scholarship awards to both external and internal candidates.
