Overview

Queen’s College in Harley Street was founded in 1848 and was the first school in Britain to provide academic qualifications for girls and young women. It continues to educate girls aged 11 to 18 to be confident, open-minded and successful. Meanwhile, Queen’s College Preparatory School was opened in September 2002 and has become one of London’s most successful junior schools, taking girls aged 4 to 11. With all the educational benefits of a central London position, the girls proceed confidently to higher education in the UK and abroad. Classes are small yet the curriculum is wide. Five modern languages are offered, as well as Latin and Greek, and at GCSE three separate sciences are taught to all students; at A-Level girls can begin new subjects such as Economics, Psychology, History of Art or Politics, though many continue with more traditional disciplines. Creative arts are prized, with large musical or dramatic productions in a newly refurbished hall a major feature of every year. Sport is highly valued and we use many local facilities as well as our own gymnasium. The trips programme, which regularly includes Italy, Greece and China, makes full use of the cultural resources of central London. Former pupils of Queen’s College look back on their time here with pride and affection, knowing that it has been a huge influence on their later lives.
