Founded in 1846, St Margaret’s is the only all-through girls’ school in the north east of Scotland. The school occupies a pleasant landscaped site in the west end of Aberdeen, based on two large 19th-century buildings with other recent additions and a well equipped playground. The school playing fields are two miles away offering five tennis courts, two hockey, one footbal pitch and a brand new pavillion.
An all-through education is provided from nursery to the sixth year. St Margaret’s is a school with a family atmosphere, small enough to care about the individual but large enough to provide a full and varied curriculum. Examination results are among the best in Scotland and the girls are prepared well for taking their part in society. They are encouraged to aim high, assume responsibility and have fun whilst showing courtesy and self-discipline.
There are lively art, music and drama departments. A good range of sport is offered and high standards are achieved. A wide variety of extra-curricular activities, including chess, choirs, orchestras, ECO club, dance, drama, debating, maths, choi kwang do, Scriptures Union and the Duke Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. Means – tested bursaries are available based upon entrance examination results.
