The Abbey School in Reading is consistently one of the top schools in the country, educating more than 1,000 girls between the ages of 3 and 18.
The Early Years Centre was awarded ‘Outstanding’ status in all categories in its Ofsted inspection (June 2008) and provides a wonderful foundation. At the Junior School, girls become confident, articulate and independent learners in a caring and friendly environment. There is a wide variety of clubs, PE is timetabled every day and the girls go on day and residential field trips.
The Abbey Senior School has a long, impressive tradition of providing the best in education for 11 – 18 year olds. The girls enjoy an exceptionally wide extra-curricular programme with performances in music, drama and sport and excellent level of DofE participation. There is a strong emphasis on pastoral care throughout the school. The latest capital development is a new building (opening in Autumn 2008) with state-of-the art teaching facilities and Art studios.
In the Sixth Form, the girls are taught within an exclusive Centre and from 2008 the International Baccalaureate is being offered in addition to A level. Most girls achieve excellent grades and go to their university of choice, with around 10% to Oxbridge.
The Abbey School runs a private coach service across Berkshire and beyond, providing an excellent transport option.
