The Red Maids' School
Type Day
Age range 11-18
School head Ms Isabel Tobias
The most important thing for us is that Red Maids are happy and we strive to ensure that each student is encouraged to discover and develop her own abilities. Our most recent innovation supporting learning is the introduction of more choice. In the Sixth Form students have the option of following the International Baccalaureate Diploma or A Levels, ensuring that both all-rounders and those ready to specialise have choices tailored to their requirements. Our teachers care deeply about their students learning and welfare and our strong pastoral system ensures that individual needs are met.
We encourage academic excellence. Girls consistently achieve impressive public examination results often with some of the highest marks in the country. Every year girls are successful at Oxbridge, in winning places to read Medicine and in taking up places in leading universities. The range of extra curricular activities from football to Duke of Edinburgh and debating demonstrate the breadth of opportunities. Each year our pupils travel all over the world; the next 12 months include trips to the Himalayas, Russia and all over Europe.
We are the only day school in Bristol with such extensive sports facilities all on our 12 acre site. The space and security allow girls to develop their confidence and talents in an environment uniquely suited to them. Recent investment in our all-weather pitch, the Sixth Form Centre, new Science Laboratories and fantastic new Junior School facilities all support the progress of motivated, lively girls who are actively engaged in learning.
