Thornton College

Thornton College is a thriving and successful school of just over 350 pupils. We believe that pupils learn best when they feel happy and secure and we work hard to maintain our caring and friendly atmosphere. We are a Roman Catholic School with a distinct Christian ethos. Staff work hard with every individual, ensuring that she achieves the best of which she is capable. Our results are outstanding, especially for a non-selective school. In 2008, all pupils achieved at least 5 GCSEs at grade A*- C and 42% of grades were at A* and A.

Facilities at Thornton are excellent and rival those of much larger schools. Main school facilities include two ICT suites, a Chapel, a Library, a huge Sports Hall, extensive grounds for playing in and exploring, Astroturf and pitches for hockey and netball, tennis courts, athletics track, a ballet studio, an Assembly Hall, a Dining Hall and a recently completed suite for Expressive Arts. A new Science and Junior Classroom development is due for completion in January 2010. We offer day, weekly and termly boarding places and an extended hour scheme from 8am – 8pm. We operate 11 bus routes exclusively for Thornton girls around the Milton Keynes, Northampton, Buckingham and Bicester areas.
