School head Mrs Jill Milner
Walthamstow Hall is an independent girls’ day school in Sevenoaks. The school was founded in 1838 with the aim of giving girls a rich and broad education. 170 years later the school continues to embody this ethos. Our record of academic excellence is well-established and borne out by our public examination results and exceptional value-added record. A broad and flexible curriculum, combined with favourable class sizes and inspired, supportive teaching, described as “frequently outstanding” in our 2007 ISI report, enable every girl to achieve her best possible results. In 2007 84% of pupils achieved grades A and B at A’ level whilst 93% achieved grades A*- B at GCSE and IGSCE. We have also been one of the first schools selected to offer sixth formers the Cambridge Pre U examination and Diploma. As important as our academic bedrock is the shaping of the girls into confident, respectful, happy individuals ready to take on any challenge of their choosing. Our state of the art theatre and sports facilities, including a new 25 meter swimming pool complex, enable every girl to experience the excitement and sense of achievement to be gained from extensive participation in sports and the creative arts. Importance is also placed on the value of personal development, relationships and careers education. Walthamstow Hall successfully mixes the best of the new with traditional values in a community where all girls are encouraged to set their aspirations high. “Teachers encourage you to believe you can achieve anything”, Pupil quoted in 2007 ISI Report.
